Abortions in the 2nd trimester.
 Life Zone
  •  D&E aborts babies up to 24 week (6 Months)- Horrible you are tearing the baby apart

·         “I won’t describe D&E, other than to say that, as a doctor, you are sitting there tearing and I mean tearing- you need a lot of strength to do it- arms and legs off of babies and putting them in a stack on top of the table” (Dr. David Brewer of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, USA)
·         It involves the live dismemberment of the baby and piecemeal removal from below. (D&E)

The Second Trimester: Your Baby's Growth and Development in Middle Pregnancy.
WebMD

·         In the second trimester of pregancy -- months 4, 5, and 6 -- your baby's fingers and toes are well-defined. His eyelids, eyebrows, eyelashes, nails, and hair are formed, and teeth and bones are becoming denser. Your baby can even suck his or her thumb, yawn, stretch, and make faces.
·         During the fourth month your health care provider can see on ultrasound if you are having a boy or a girl. Your baby's heartbeat may now be audible through an instrument called a Doppler.
·         During the fifth month hair is beginning to grow on your baby's head, and lanugo, a soft fine hair, covers his or her shoulders, back, and temples. This hair protects your baby and is usually shed at the end of the baby's first week of life.

What Everyone Needs to Know About Second Trimester Abortions.

Reproductive & Sexual Health and Justice

 30 July, 2010.

·         In another study done by Drey et al, 29 percent or one third of women who ended up having abortions during their second trimester were in their first trimester when they made the first call to an abortion clinic.
  • One out of every ten abortions performed in the United States happens during the second trimester
  • Second trimester abortions carry an increased risk of complications and are more expensive to obtain then first trimester abortions
·         In some states, like California and New York, Medicaid can cover the cost of an abortion.
·         In others, such as Pennsylvania, Medicaid funds are forbidden from covering the procedure unless the woman is a survivor of rape, incest, or has a medical condition that threatens her life
·         Depending on how long this takes, the cost of the procedure could go up weekly (as it often does in the second trimester).

Abortion Risks.
Birthmothers, A Friend loves At All Times

·         About 10% of women who have a first-time abortion face immediate physical complications, according to a study reported in the American Journal of Pubic Health and the Journal of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
·         Most physical complications develop as a result of an incomplete evacuation of the uterus, infection, or injury from instruments used during the procedure.
·         Excessive bleeding
·         Infection- A pelvic infection can lead to high fever, hospitalization, and pelvic organ scarring. Moreover, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), caused by bacteria entering the body during or after an abortion, can spread from the cervix to uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries.4 Fetal or placenta parts left inside a woman’s body (known as an incomplete abortion) can breed infection and can necessitate repeating the abortion procedure. A number of RU486 users have died as a result of sepsis (total body infection).
·         Incompetent cervix- During a normal pregnancy, the cervix remains tightly closed until term. An incompetent cervix is one that undergoes premature opening during pregnancy. It is also referred to as cervical incompetency.  Forcible opening of the cervix from repeated abortions can damage or weaken it, causing miscarriages or difficulties in sustaining the weight of the baby in subsequent pregnancies.

Doctors say abortions do sometimes save women’s lives.
USA Today
22 Oct. 2012

  •       Cecily Kellogg, 44, a writer who lives near Philadelphia, says that was the situation she faced when she was nearly six months pregnant with twin boys in 2004 and developed severe preeclampsia. One fetus had already died and "my liver had shut down, my kidneys had shut down and they were expecting me to start seizing at any minute," she says. The doctors said they had to quickly dilate her cervix and perform an abortion to save her. "I fought it," she says. "But they told me I would die — that it was either me and my son or just my son."She says it was a "horrible experience," but the right thing to do. She and her husband had a daughter in 2006.
